Fars province
Iran was known as Pars (Fars) and the history of Iran is fully mixed with the Fars province. This province is about 133.000 square km (about 8 percent of Iran). It is situated in south west of Iran and surrounded by Isfahan, Yazd, Bushehr. Kohgilooy-e- BoyrAhmad, Hormozgan and Kerman province. Fars is situated in a mountainous reigon in south of Zagros mountains. Kor river goes through this province and water was controlled by some special dams like Band-e-Amir in old days. Some other rivers and lakes such as Bakhtegaan. Maharloo and Parishan and some important environmental and strategic places are situated in this province. Fars includes fourteen cities and the capital is Shiraz( the city of roses and nightingales) which is known worldwide for its beauty and well-known history.
